Shantz authored an Ebook, "Early Essays Collectivism, Neo-Liberalism, & Napa Valley Politics" (May 3, 2021), a collection of letters to the Napa Valley Register between 2010 to 2020, covering Napa Valley College's 2014 bond issue, St. Helena's 2018 mayoral recall and post-recall town hall, municipal microaggressions, police abolition, and Napa County Green Party's electoral history.

They’re a third generation Napa Valley resident, has an A.A. in Humanities and Philosophy (Napa Valley College) [GO STORMS!] and B.A. Philosophy: Ethics, Law, and Politics (Sacramento State University) [GO HERKY!].

They’re a St. Helena School Board Trustee (2014-2016), Vice Chair of the Napa County Gang and Youth Violence Commission (2013-2016), and Co-Chairs for the Green Party of California (2012-2016) and Napa County Green Party (2011-2016).

The day Donald J. Trump (R) was elected, Shantz resigned to do a podcast; Napa Valley Insurrection.
