Green Party of Sacramento Endorses Nicole Castor for City Council

August 7, 2020

As the City of Citrus Heights faces a health crisis, residents have the opportunity to vote in fresh, new leadership to address these problems.

“Members of the city’s un-housed communities are facing new challenges amid the Covid-19 pandemic crisis.  Gyms are closed, water fountains are shut down.  Basic day-to-day survival is being severely impacted.  Yet the city maintains zero public shelters.”

But the city has the opportunity to bring a new voice to the conversation by electing new representation.

The County Council of the Green Party of Sacramento County (GPSC) has endorsed Nicole Castor for Citrus Heights City Council, District 1, by consensus last week.  The contest is a non-partisan race, but Nicole is a registered Green and a Co-Coordinator of GPSC (2016-present).

She is a longtime resident of Citrus Heights and aims to focus mainly on the city's need for immediately handling the growing crisis of homelessness, in a cost-effective but thoroughly sufficient way.

"Our un-housed community receives little to no assistance or guidance. The community at large is entering into a health and safety crisis, particularly during this pandemic. Humane solutions need to be implemented immediately to protect the health and safety of every person living in our community! I fully believe and support our Green Party platform on the issue, which explains that those affected by homelessness have a right to dignity and a right to self-determination in solutions which affect them."

The City Clerk of Citrus Heights has confirmed this morning that Nicole has qualified as a City Council candidate for this upcoming election in November.
